Dyfi Groms - 2025

Director - Ashley Leung
Producer - Ina De Smet for Trailrippers
Cinematography - Ashley Leung
Editor - Ashley Leung

"Dyfi Groms" tells the story of the diverse mountain biking community in the Dyfi Valley around Machynlleth (Mid-Wales, United Kingdom) through the eyes of the young riders.

Following a few key people, the 37-minute documentary film explores themes of mental health, friendship, community and connections across generations.
Through heartwarming and inspirational storytelling, it also shines a light on the specific challenges of girls in rural areas, as well as
young racers aiming for a spot at World Cup level racing.

The film's direction was shaped by the news of one of the young riders taking his own life and dedicated to his memory.

We are still raising money to cover essential costs of the film.

In 2023 we worked with Andy McCandlish and Ashley Leung to produce our first film, “Flow”, telling our family story as neurodivergent mountain bikers with the help of our mum. Together, we share how we first got into riding and then racing and the benefits and challenges that neurodivergence brings to our riding and how riding bikes helps them regulate our lives. Flow sees The Trailrippers riding on their home trails, at Dyfi Bike Park and the Glencoe round of the British Cycling National Downhill Series in 2023.

“Flow” was selected for many film festivals and won multiple awards:
